The Treatment Program at High Watch Recovery Center

At High Watch Recovery Center every guest receives an individual bio-psycho-social evaluation. A full history of the substance abuse illness is taken as well as current usage patterns. Family and interpersonal dynamics are reviewed along with current environmental stressors. Attention is focused on the treatment of any co-occurring mental health problem, which is carefully integrated with our 12 Step Recovery Program.

The very latest advances in Addiction Medicine are offered at High Watch. A state-of-the-art addiction recovery plan is developed with each of our guests. This includes biologic interventions targeted to repair brain neural and neurotransmitter systems that are damaged by a wide variety of substances. Medical, psychiatric, nursing and psycho therapeutic services are available seven days per week to support remission and the 12 Step Recovery Programs which constitutes the core of our program at High Watch.

At High Watch Recovery Center we teach how to use Alcoholics Anonymous and other 12-step programs to effect a change and put substance abuse in remission. It has been said that Alcoholics Anonymous is one of the most influential self-help organizations in the world. More alcoholics have been rehabilitated through Alcoholics Anonymous than through the efforts of medicine, psychology, and psychiatry combined.

A daily intensive Big Book Study teaches step by step how to use Alcoholics and Narcotics Anonymous on a daily basis to support recovery. Weekly, a comprehensive 4th step workshop explains how to do a thorough 4th step. We also work with each guest to review why their 12 step program may not have been effective for them in the past as well as answer any questions they may have about using a 12-step program upon discharge.

Mornings begin with daily Reflections. The purpose of this group is to help our guests practice using a form of reflection upon awakening as a daily practice in their sober lives.

For those suffering from substance abuse disorders the problem is how to live sober. To assist with this we have daily Living Sober Groups teaching our guests not to rely on alcohol and drugs on a daily basis but rather how to live their lives as sober members of society. We want all our guests to be able to live happy, joyous and free.

Prayer and meditation are disciplines that are important to daily recovery. We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understand Him, praying only knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out (Step 11 of Alcoholics Anonymous). We provide time on a daily basis to deliver a spiritual message to our guests in our circa 1743 Chapel. We have been told many individuals have come to terms with their addiction during prayer and meditation in this beautiful old building.
